ATAFOM Language Academy

The ALA framework curriculum for English includes 6 language proficiency levels: ALA-A1, ALA-A2, ALA-B1, ALA-B2, ALA-C1, ALA-C2. The teaching and learning programs meet all internationally used requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - “The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - Learning, Teaching, Assessing”, Council of Europe, 2001.

Every English language course at the ALA can be started online at any time after you have registered online.

ATAFOM Language Certification

In the ALA, students are prepared for the ATAFOM Language Certification – ALC. All 9 language proficiency levels are completed with a corresponding language test. The following ALC English certificates can be acquired:

All ALC-English exams have been developed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - Learning, Teaching, Assessing, Council of Europe, 2001 and are geared towards it.

The language courses ALA-Business English I, II and III intended for professional life are offered as part of additional ALA qualification programs.

These programs consist of three different language levels that build on one another and are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages as follows:

ALA-BE I: B2 Business as ALA-Business English I with minimum language level ALC-B2
ALA-BE II: C1 Business as ALA-Business English II with minimum language level ALC- C1
ALA-BE III: C2 Business as ALA-Business English III as minimum language level ALC-C2.

While the language level corresponds to the three language proficiency levels B2, C1 and C2, the subject specifics are adapted to the respective subject area, so that this enables a linguistic qualification with all requirements and recognitions in international professional life.

Language training in English at the ATAFOM University International

English level test after application at level B2

The prerequisite for studying at ATAFOM University is the minimum language level ALA-B2. Therefore, the ATAFOM English Level Test B2 is carried out after applying to study at language level B2. This language test queries the current linguistic competence in the field of English and is used to assess the current and actual language level of the applicant. The duration of this language test is 20 minutes.

If the language test at the minimum language level ALA-B2 has not been achieved, the applicant must attend an intensive online basic language course over 2 semesters before starting the bachelor’s degree.

Academic English in the Bachelor’s degree

At the beginning of every Bachelor’s degree on language level B2, Academic English I in the 1st semester and Academic English in the 2nd semester are part of the course, but do not include the recognition of language level B2. These language modules are subject-specific and are based on the specialist vocabulary of the respective field of study. At the end of each module an examination – usually an oral and a written – is taken; a language certificate is not awarded.

In order to achieve a higher language levels such as ALA-C1 and ALA-C2 language courses must also be taken at the ALA. Certificates are awarded after successfully completing each language course at the ALA.

Language training with certification programs at the ALA

All ALA language courses of the certification program are designed on the same level with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, so that after the completion of each course the required minimum levels can be achieved and an appropriate grade / number of points can be obtained. The planned duration of certification depends on the respective certification program and consists of online language lessons, exam preparation and testing. Each ALA language course may be repeated a maximum of two times within the supervision period if it is not passed.

Each online lesson lasts 45 minutes. Each week of learning, the language student has to independently complete the weekly tasks on the Online Campus, follow the course and prepare for the certification test in the long term using the sample test tasks. These learning activities are recorded in the online system and are part of successful course participation.

All online lessons take place in our online campus, which can be accessed at any time. In addition to participating in the respective language lessons, the Online Campus also offers numerous exercise options, such as

playing audio files
Record and play your own voice messages
Reading information, dialogues, short stories
Communicate via chats & forums
and much more.

All communications with language teachers and course participants also take place via the Online Campus. Continuous use is necessary in order to achieve the learning objectives on the one hand and to comply with the regulations regarding attendance on the other. For successful course participation and for admission to the certification test, a language student must prove at least 80% of their attendance on the Online Campus. All learning activities in the Online Campus, which are recorded automatically, are taken into account.

After successful participation and passed oral and written exams, the language student receives the ALA certificate as proof of performance. The acquired language skills at the respective language level achieved are based on the corresponding language level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. This certificate is an internationally recognized document in business, industry, profession and education.

Our online language lessons are based on a globally standardized high level and are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Language learners will be prepared to take various ATAFOM Language Certification – ALC – certification exams, which are offered and carried out by the ATAFOM Language Academy – ALA.

All ALA certification exams in English are on the same level with such different certification exams as Cambridge Certificate, GMAT, IELTS, LCCI, TELC, TOEFL, TOEIC etc. and can be used worldwide.
